Intimate Fall Wedding the PNW
When I first met this couple a year before their wedding, I knew right away they were something special. When an ER nurse and a firefighter come together, how could it be anything but a power couple? Their vision was clear from the start — an intimate celebration with 40–50 of their favorite people, filled with meaningful details and, of course, beautiful flowers (my favorite part!).
After some thoughtful planning, they chose a lush fall color palette that perfectly reflected the warmth and richness of the season. I knew it would complement the venue’s natural landscape beautifully, and I couldn’t wait to see everything come together on their wedding day.

When a couple’s floral vision aligns with the season, it always makes my heart sing. September weddings with rich, warm tones are truly a flower farmer’s dream. The farm was bursting with color, and we harvested the best of the season — amaranth, dahlias, celosia, lisianthus, phlox, and rudbeckia — all paired beautifully with roses in shades of Toffee, Quicksand, and Moab.
There’s something so special about designing with flowers that are at their natural peak. Not only are they more vibrant and long-lasting, but they also reflect the true beauty of the season. If you’re wondering which blooms will be in season for your wedding, reach out to your local flower farmer or wholesaler. They can guide you through what’s available and help you choose the perfect flowers to bring your vision to life.
Who doesn’t love a garden nursery? And when a nursery is transformed into a wedding venue it becomes even more magical! Barn and Blossom Nursery made the perfect venue for this couple. Special moments were captured in lovely locations such as the shade gardens, the deck, and near the willow trees. Such thought went into every detail of this venue and it was an honor to flower it up!!
Guests were welcomed with a beautiful floral sign that set the tone for the day — warm, heartfelt, and full of love. A stroll beneath the trees led them to a memory table with photos arranged to honor cherished loved ones who were with the couple in spirit. Nearby, Polaroid cameras sat beside the guest book, inviting friends and family to capture a moment and leave a photo message. Thoughtful touches, like delicate paper fans for guests to use during the ceremony, ensured everyone stayed comfortable while enjoying the celebration.
Just beyond the footbridge, the ceremony space revealed itself — a serene, nature-framed haven. To create an unforgettable entrance for the bride, we designed a lush living wall that offered a special moment. Nursery plants such as viburnum, ninebark, and willow were artfully arranged so that the groom caught only fleeting glimpses of his bride as she gracefully made her way down the aisle. When she finally stepped into view, the moment was breathtaking.
Barn and Blossom thoughtfully allows couples to incorporate nursery plants into their design, creating stunning visual impact without stretching the budget. It’s a truly special touch — though not every nursery offers this option, so it’s always best to check before planning your own enchanted ceremony space.
The couple chose not to have attendants stand with them during the ceremony, a trend I absolutely love for the intimate and heartfelt atmosphere it creates. To frame the ceremony space, we used wine barrels adorned with floral designs in rich fall tones. Hops cascaded gracefully from the arrangements, adding a touch of whimsy and texture.
The ceremony arbor was filled with lush roses, chrysanthemums, and greenery, with draping hops that tied everything together beautifully. Behind it, nursery plants added depth and an organic, garden-inspired feel — the perfect natural backdrop for their “I do” moment.
The reception took place on “the deck,” offering guests a sweeping view of the entire venue. As dinner was served, everyone enjoyed the breathtaking sight of the sun setting over the landscape — a magical backdrop for such a special evening.
The sweetheart table was adorned with a lush floral runner, creating a romantic focal point for the newlyweds. Guest tables were decorated with simple yet elegant touches: delicate bud vases, flat-lay greenery, and flickering candles that added warmth and ambiance. Together, the details created an inviting, intimate atmosphere where friends and family could relax, celebrate, and enjoy the beauty of the day.
It was such an honor to be a small part of this unforgettable day. Wishing this beautiful couple a lifetime of love, laughter, and joy — and a heartfelt bravo to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the day as perfect as it was.
